SCRA Facts

The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act provides a 6 percent interest rate cap on student loans taken out prior to military service. In 2014, Navient entered into a voluntary agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice on SCRA, leading to a new, streamlined process for not only Navient but all student loan servicers.
