FISHERS, Ind., Oct. 19, 2015- Employees at Navient, a local employer in Indiana, have the option to wear jeans to work several months out of the year not only for comfort, but also to support local charities. Navient employees raised nearly $9,000 to support the Riley Children's Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Riley Hospital for Children.

"Riley Children's Foundation and Riley Hospital for Children are so thankful for the support of wonderful corporate partners like Navient," said Kate Burnett, senior communications officer, Riley Children's Foundation. "It is because of the generosity of our donors that we are able to provide world-class care to families who need it most."

Navient, the nation's leading loan management, servicing and asset recovery company, hosts its popular Jeans BeCause program, which offers participating employees a "pass" to dress casually on certain days for their volunteer donations. The contribution was funded entirely by employees through this program.

It is one of several workplace events and fundraising activities planned by an employee-led committee to support local charities in the area. Other nonprofits that have benefited from the program this year include: Humane Society of Hamilton County, American Cancer Society of Central Indiana, Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana, and Gleaners Food Bank.

Opening in 1924 as Indiana's first hospital exclusively for children, Riley Hospital for Children is home to the state's largest pediatric research program.

"Riley Hospital for Children is dedicated to the well-being of children not only in Indiana, but from all around the world," said Jon Kroehler, senior vice president, Navient. "This contribution shows our support for their continued effort in the treatment and care of our kids."
